What is a residual current circuit breaker?
An RCCB monitors the balance between current flowing through the outgoing and returning conductors. When the residual current exceeds the device operating characteristics, it disconnects the circuit to support earth-leakage protection.
An RCCB is not selected by rated current alone. Pole configuration, rated residual operating current, RCCB type, circuit voltage and coordination with overload and short-circuit protection must also match the installation.
