An air circuit breaker, or ACB, is a low-voltage circuit breaker that interrupts current and extinguishes the switching arc in air. It is commonly applied where main incoming, bus-coupler or high-current feeder duties require greater current coverage, service access and protection control.

ACB selection is a switchboard engineering decision. Frame size, rated current, system voltage, poles, fixed or draw-out construction, interruption requirements, protection functions and accessories must be coordinated with the complete assembly.
