Per una MCB buying shortlist in India, consider ABB, Anchor by Panasonic, Havells, HPL, IndoAsian, Lauritz Knudsen, Legrand, Polycab, Schneider Electric and Siemens. There is no defensible universal “No. 1” for every home: choose an authentic exact model that matches the circuit specification, fits the distribution board and comes with verifiable product documents and seller support.
This guide identifies representative miniature circuit breaker (MCB) families and gives you a consistent way to compare quotations. It is an alphabetical editorial shortlist—not a laboratory-tested performance ranking, a market-share table or a recommendation to mix brands inside an existing board.
Ten MCB Brands in India and Representative Series
The shortlist was checked against official product pages, product images and catalogues on 6 October 2026. Inclusion establishes a documented product family, not current stock at your local dealer or certification of every model carrying the brand name.
| Marchio | Representative MCB family or product | What to clarify in the quotation |
|---|---|---|
| ABB | S200; S201-C16 is one documented example | Obtain the complete order code and its own datasheet; do not treat S200 and a different suffix/version as the same specification. |
| Anchor di Panasonic | UNO Plus MCB | Ask for the exact UNO Plus order code and pole arrangement, not just an “Anchor MCB” or a shared catalogue picture. |
| Havells | EURO-II; SP C-Curve product DHMGCSPF032 | Confirm that the quoted family and product code match the supplied device; do not infer the whole range’s ratings from one SP product. |
| HPL | Rakshak MCB; the representative image is marked Rakshak N | Match the full product designation and actual markings to the current documents instead of relying on the Rakshak name alone. |
| IndoAsian | Optipro; product 811124 is a documented AC MCB | Specify Optipro and the exact item code; check its curve, poles and board connection rather than accepting a brand-only substitution. |
| Lauritz Knudsen | EXORA MCB | Request an exact current catalogue code and supplied-device label; clarify any quotation using older L&T terminology before accepting equivalence. |
| Legrand | DX³; product 408592 is a documented MCB | Specify an MCB reference within the family, then match the breaker, distribution board and busbar documentation. |
| Polycab | 10 kA MCB range; a 6 kA range is separately catalogued | Make the requested range and exact code explicit; the brand name alone does not identify the breaking-capacity version. |
| Schneider Electric | Easy9; product EZ9F76116 is a documented MCB | Quote the exact Easy9 reference and compatible board arrangement; a different family is not automatically a like-for-like replacement. |
| Siemens | SINOPLUS; product 5TJ41167 is listed for India | Use the exact Indian catalogue reference rather than assuming an older series name or another market’s product is identical. |

The representative product images show different pole counts and ratings. They identify families; they are non a same-spec comparison, a common physical scale or a circuit schedule. A product code shown here is an identification example, not the correct breaker for every installation.

Which MCB Brand Is Best for a Home in India?
Start with the board and circuit requirements, then compare two or three documented options from the shortlist. A familiar brand with the wrong order code is a worse purchase than a properly specified, traceable alternative that the board manufacturer permits.
- Replacing a breaker in an existing distribution board: identify the installed board, breaker reference and permitted replacements first. Another device fitting the DIN rail does not establish busbar or assembly compatibility.
- Buying a new board: compare complete documented arrangements—board, breakers, connecting busbars and relevant accessories—rather than independently choosing the cheapest logo for each component.
- Working within a budget: compare identical technical requirements and a traceable supply route. A lower quote is useful only after documentation and compatibility checks pass.
- Needing repeat purchases or replacements: ask the seller about the exact reference, delivery time and return/support route. Brand reputation does not prove that a particular local seller has it in stock.
An electrician or electrical designer should establish the circuit requirements. This article does not assign an MCB rating to an appliance. Cable capacity, installation conditions, load behaviour, fault current and protective-device coordination still control the specification; see the guida alla selezione degli MCB per tale attività separata.
Compare Exact MCB Specifications Before Comparing Prices
Write one requirement and send it unchanged to each seller. “32 A MCB” is not enough to obtain comparable offers.
| Campo di confronto | Record on each offer | Reject or clarify when… |
|---|---|---|
| Identità del dispositivo | Brand, family, full order code and AC/DC designation | The quotation names only the brand, or substitutes an RCCB, RCBO, isolator or differently rated device. |
| Corrente nominale, In | The designer-specified ampere rating and relevant derating information | A seller proposes a larger rating merely to stop trips, without checking the circuit and cable. |
| Caratteristica di intervento | Required curve and the exact model’s characteristic | “C curve for every home” is used in place of checking starting current and disconnection requirements. |
| Configurazione dei pali | SP/1P, SPN/1P+N, DP/2P, TP/3P or another specified arrangement | Equal module width is treated as proof of equal protected/switched poles; confirm the diagram. |
| Tensione e frequenza | Ratings for the actual supply and pole arrangement | A voltage number is copied from another market or a different AC/DC application. |
| Corrente di cortocircuito nominale | Required capacity, voltage, applicable standard and rating symbol | Offers compare an IEC 60898-1 Icn value with an IEC 60947-2 Icu/Ics value as though the test bases were identical. |
| Board and connections | Permitted device/board arrangement, busbar interface and terminal instructions | Mechanical fit is the only compatibility evidence offered. |
| Indian product documents | Applicable standard, claimed BIS licence details, item traceability and datasheet | A generic brand brochure replaces documents for the quoted product. |
| Termini commerciali | Quantity, tax, delivery, seller identity, returns and warranty terms | The attractive price refers to a different pole count, range or incomplete supply. |
Un 6 kA versus 10 kA decision follows the assessed prospective short-circuit current and any documented protective-device coordination—not simply “home versus industry.” For the rating basis and selection limits, use the MCB breaking-capacity guide. Likewise, the guida alle curve di intervento degli MCB explains why a curve must match the circuit rather than the seller’s preferred brand.
The IEC describes IEC 60898-1 as covering AC circuit breakers for household and similar overcurrent-protection applications within its stated scope. That product-standard reference does not certify a particular breaker, approve a completed board or settle the installation design.
Check BIS Details on the Supplied Item
Check the current applicable Indian requirements before buying. For products within the relevant BIS compulsory-certification scope, certification is not an optional brand feature; confirm the applicable product scope and licence rather than assuming all AC and DC circuit breakers follow the same route.
A printed ISI mark is a starting point for verification, not the whole check. The BIS product manual for IS/IEC 60898-1:2015 specifies a licence scope and product traceability provisions. Certification should therefore be checked against the supplied item and applicable licence—not assigned to an entire brand from a marketing description.
For a product supplied with a claimed BIS licence:
- Record the item. Obtain the full catalogue code, clear product/packaging photographs, declared Indian standard, CM/L licence number and an invoice identifying the seller.
- Look up the licence. Use the official BIS Care app, which provides “Verify Licence Details” and information about standards and licences.
- Match the record. Compare the licensee/manufacturing details, standard, status and relevant scope with the supplied product. If an important scope detail is unclear, obtain clarification from the manufacturer or BIS rather than guessing from the logo.
- Keep the evidence. Retain the invoice, order code and product/batch identification with the project documents. A general certificate PDF without a link to the supplied item is insufficient purchasing evidence.
Do not accept a CE marking, an unrelated management-system certificate or a different product standard as a substitute for the applicable Indian product documentation. Conversely, one photographed product with an ISI mark does not establish that every pole, current rating or imported version in that brand’s catalogue is covered.
MCB Prices in India: Compare the Same Item
An advertised “price per MCB” can refer to one pole, a multi-pole unit, a pack or a different family. For a fair comparison, keep the required current, curve, poles, voltage and breaking-capacity basis fixed, then compare the total delivered price of the exact items.
Ask whether the quote includes GST, shipping and the required accessories, and whether the seller will supply the stated reference without substitution. Obtain written warranty and return terms rather than assuming a duration from the brand name. A premium price alone is not conformity evidence; a discount alone is not proof of a counterfeit product.
Current rupee prices and local stock change, so this guide does not publish unverified fixed price bands. Use dated quotations from identifiable sellers and keep the specification attached to every offer.
A Copyable Request for MCB Quotations
Send this to each shortlisted seller after your electrician or designer has defined the requirements:
Please quote [quantity] AC MCBs for [distribution-board manufacturer/model and project location in India]. Required: [rated current], [trip curve], [pole configuration], [rated voltage/frequency] and [short-circuit capacity, standard and rating basis]. State the brand, family and full order code. Provide the exact-item datasheet, applicable Indian product documents and claimed CM/L licence details, confirmation of the permitted board/busbar arrangement, product/packaging identification, seller details, delivery time, GST-inclusive delivered price and written return/warranty terms. No substitutions without written approval.
Shortlist only offers that pass the technical, documentation and compatibility checks. If two offers pass, delivery, support and total cost can decide between them. If none pass, resolve the missing evidence instead of choosing a brand winner by reputation.
MCBs address overcurrent protection; buying a preferred MCB brand does not replace residual-current protection where required. For that separate protection decision, see RCCB vs MCB e il RCCB brands in India guide.
