What is a DC isolator switch?
A DC isolator switch is a manually operated switching device used to disconnect a direct-current circuit for maintenance, inspection or permitted emergency isolation. In solar PV systems, it is commonly installed between PV strings and an inverter or integrated into related DC equipment.
It is an isolation device, not a substitute for overcurrent or surge protection. Rated DC voltage, current, utilization category, poles, wiring arrangement, enclosure conditions and installation method must match the exact circuit and product documentation.

What does a DC isolator switch do?
It provides manual disconnection of a DC circuit for permitted maintenance, inspection or emergency isolation. The exact switching duty and operating conditions depend on the selected model.
Does a DC isolator provide overcurrent protection?
No. An isolator is not a substitute for a fuse, DC circuit breaker or other required protective device. Those functions must be coordinated separately.
