Understanding the Operating Principles

The FCC18 single-phase current relay series operates based on precise current monitoring and threshold comparison. Each model has specific operation modes depending on its designated function:

VIOX FCC18-01_2_3_4 Single-phase Current Relay operating principles

FCC18-01 (Overcurrent Protection)

Manual Resetting Mode

When the monitored current (I) exceeds the set maximum threshold (Imax) and persists beyond the set trip time (Tr), the relay (R) changes state. The relay will remain in this state until manually reset, even if the current returns below the threshold.

Auto Resetting Mode

In this mode, when the current (I) exceeds Imax and persists beyond the trip time (Tr), the relay changes state. However, once the current falls below 95% of Imax, the relay automatically resets after the reset time (Tt).

FCC18-02 (Undercurrent Protection)

Manual Resetting Mode

The relay changes state when the monitored current (I) falls below the minimum threshold (Imin) for longer than the trip time (Tr). Manual intervention is required to reset the relay.

Auto Resetting Mode

Similar to the undercurrent manual mode, but the relay automatically resets when the current rises above 105% of Imin for the duration of the reset time (Tt).

FCC18-03 (Over & Under Current with Manual Resetting)

This variant combines both overcurrent and undercurrent protection with manual resetting requirements. The relay responds to either condition exceeding its respective threshold for the trip time duration.

FCC18-04 (Over & Under Current with Auto Resetting)

Providing comprehensive protection with automatic reset capability, this model monitors both overcurrent and undercurrent conditions. The relay automatically resets when current returns to the safe range (below 95% of Imax or above 105% of Imin) for the duration of the reset time.

Installation and Wiring Instructions

Proper installation and wiring are crucial for the reliable operation of your single-phase current relay:
