FCV18-01/02 Voltage Relay Models: Understanding the Differences

FCV18-01: Manual Resetting Single-Phase Voltage Relay

The FCV18-01 model provides manual resetting functionality, making it ideal for applications where human intervention is preferred or required after a voltage event. This model offers precise control over voltage thresholds with adjustable Umax and Umin settings, along with a configurable time delay (Tt) for response customization.

When the monitored voltage exceeds the set Umax or falls below the set Umin threshold for longer than the defined time delay, the relay changes state. To resume normal operation after a trip, manual resetting is required, ensuring that the system is not automatically restarted without proper verification.

FCV18-02: Auto Resetting Single-Phase Voltage Relay with Hysteresis

The FCV18-02 model offers auto resetting functionality with adjustable hysteresis (H), providing enhanced protection for systems that require automatic recovery. This model is particularly valuable in remote locations or applications where immediate recovery is preferred after voltage conditions return to normal.

The auto-resetting feature includes programmable hysteresis, creating separate recovery thresholds (Umax*(1-H)% for overvoltage and Umin*(1+H)% for undervoltage) that prevent rapid cycling of the relay when voltage fluctuates near the threshold values. It’s important to ensure that Umax > Umax*(1-H)% > Umin*(1+H)% > Umin for proper operation.

Voltage Setting Options for FCV18-01/02 Single-Phase Voltage Relays

The FCV18-01/02 single-phase voltage relay offers flexible voltage setting options to accommodate various electrical systems:

Voltage Settings
Code	Setting Voltage	Monitoring Voltage
A48	AC20-80V	AC15-100V
A220	AC165-260V	AC140-270V
A240	AC65-260V	AC50-270V
D12	DC9-18V	DC7-25V
D48	DC20-80V	DC15-100V
D240	DC65-260V	DC50-270V

When ordering, use the model code format FCV18-XX-YZZ, where:

XX: Function type (01 for manual resetting, 02 for auto resetting)
Y: Supply voltage (A for AC, D for DC, W for AC/DC)
ZZ: Voltage range (48, 220, 240, 12, etc.)

For example, FCV18-01-A240 indicates a manual resetting model with AC65-260V setting range.

Function Chart: Understanding Operational Behavior

VIOX FCV18-01_02 Single-Phase Voltage Relay function chart

FCV18-01 (Manual Resetting) Operation

The function chart for the FCV18-01 model illustrates how the relay responds to voltage fluctuations:

When input voltage (Un) exceeds Umax or falls below Umin for a period longer than the time delay (Tt), the relay changes state
The relay maintains this state until manually reset, even if voltage returns to the normal range
Time delay (Tt) provides protection against momentary voltage fluctuations

FCV18-02 (Auto Resetting) Operation

The function chart for the FCV18-02 model demonstrates its auto-resetting behavior with hysteresis:

When input voltage (Un) exceeds Umax or falls below Umin for a period longer than the time delay (Tt), the relay changes state
The relay automatically resets when voltage returns to Umax*(1-H)% (for overvoltage) or Umin*(1+H)% (for undervoltage)
Hysteresis (H) setting prevents relay chatter when voltage fluctuates near threshold values
Important: Always ensure Umax > Umax*(1-H)% > Umin*(1+H)% > Umin

Wiring and Installation Guidelines

Proper wiring is essential for the reliable operation of the FCV18-01/02 single-phase voltage relay:
