Introduction to the BMC7 Modular Contactor Series

The BMC7 modular contactor series represents a versatile solution for electrical control applications, designed to meet the demands of modern building automation systems and electrical installations. These contactors offer reliable performance in switching and controlling various electrical loads, including lighting systems, heating equipment, ventilation units, and pumps in residential and commercial buildings.

Manufactured in accordance with international standards IEC/EN61095 and IEC60947-4-1, the BMC7 modular contactors are specifically engineered for integration into Din rail systems, making them an ideal choice for installation in dedicated electrical panels. Their modular design ensures easy installation and seamless integration with other Din rail products, providing a comprehensive solution for electrical control requirements.

Key Applications and Capabilities

The BMC7 modular contactors excel in applications requiring precise control of both resistive and inductive loads. They are primarily designed for:

Lighting Control Systems: Efficient management of lighting circuits in residential and commercial buildings
Heating Systems: Reliable control of heating elements and electric heaters
Ventilation Equipment: Precise operation of ventilation fans and air handling units
Pump Control: Dependable switching for water pumps and circulation systems
Household Appliances: Safe operation of various household electrical devices

These contactors are specifically designed for AC 50Hz (or 60Hz) applications with rated working voltages up to 400V and rated currents up to 63A. The BMC7 series is particularly effective for controlling low-inductance loads in household appliances and similar applications, while also being capable of controlling household motor loads with appropriate power reduction.

Understanding BMC7 Model Designations

The BMC7 series follows a systematic naming convention that makes it easy to identify the specific characteristics of each model:

BMC7-XX/YZ [Voltage]

BMC7: Base series designation
XX: Current rating (16A, 20A, 25A, 32A, 40A, or 63A)
Y: Number of normally open contacts (0-4)
Z: Number of normally closed contacts (0-4)
[Voltage]: Coil voltage (12V, 24V, 48V, 110V, or 230V AC/DC)

For example, BMC7-25/20 230V indicates a 25A contactor with 2 normally open contacts (2NO) and 0 normally closed contacts, with a 230V AC coil voltage.

Installation Guidelines and Best Practices

For optimal performance and longevity of the BMC7 contactors, consider the following installation guidelines:

Temperature Management:
- Use spacing pieces between contactors when mounting in enclosures with high internal temperatures
- Maintain proper ventilation in the electrical panel
Mounting Position:
- Ensure vertical mounting within the ±30° tolerance
- Secure firmly on 35mm DIN rail
Wiring Recommendations:
- Use copper conductors of the specified cross-sectional area
- Apply the correct tightening torque to ensure proper connections
- Separate control wiring from power wiring when possible
Load Protection:
- Implement appropriate overload protection for the controlled loads
- Consider the specific load type (AC-1, AC-3, AC-7a, AC-7b) when selecting the contactor rating
Coil Voltage Selection:
- Choose the appropriate coil voltage based on the control circuit requirements
- Ensure stable control voltage supply to prevent contactor chatter
